We are living in an age of contrasts.  The optimist can find more things than ever to be cheerful about, while the pessimist has never had so many things to contribute to his dismal outlook.  Some politicians tell us that we have nothing to worry about, while other politicians tell us that we are on the very brink of disaster.  In the midst of all this, we wonder who is right and who is wrong.  What can we find that will give us stability to our hearts and minds?  Is there something or someone to whom we can turn to give direction to our lives?  The answer is, "yes."  Out of the pages of God's Holy Word comes the verse in Psalm 31:15, "My times are in thy hand."  The psalmist here speaks of God as a Rock, a Fortress, and a House of Defense.  His confidence in God is unshaken as he utters the words which were later used by our Lord on the cross, "Into thy hand I commit my spirit."
